Need initial Assistance

Hi Everyone:

I read some of the post ad needs to read many but I was wondering if someone already collected information in a step by step manner so I can read it and get my business going.

I am in Chicago area but can travel anywhere for a decent course or advise. I will also need help with local ordinance and licensing if anyone already know, please let me know.

First, I wanted to know what do the forum member think of the Online courses that range from 250 to 1000 dollars. I am very handy and technical and do understand most mechanical and electrical things with basic information but I am no way expert in any particular field. I was a Auto mechanic long time ago but auto industry has changed significantly since then.

Please help me to select best option and post your messages or if such posts are already there, please point those out to me. I just got become member here yesterday and found wealth of information. If anyone lives in Chicago area, please send me message. I really need help and I am asking for it here.

Look into the Foley-Belsaw course. It will teach you the basics and help you get an apprenticeship. It will not teach you everything you need to know. Illinios has stricter laws than most other states so you need to look into licensing requirements for your state. In a post above yours there is a state by state legislative map that shows you the laws.
