Auto Clubs

Postby drew5553 » 13 Dec 2007 11:40

Hi all,

Great board.

I'm wondering how one goes about working for the Auto Clubs, whether you can work for more than 1 and how to be contracted as opposed to being an employee?

And how many calls a day can be expected for auto/residential lockouts, battery jumps, tire changes and gas delivery in a major metro area?

Thanks,

Drew

It's very simple......don't do it. You may think you can negotiate a deal with AAA to allow you to be off duty at night to sleep but that will not happen. If you try to pull off something like that AAA will not contract you.

A contract you sign with AAA is a one way contract where you have absolutely no rights. You can't dictate your own schedule of any kind, you have no right to sue them or make a complaint for any reason and if something happens to you because of a work related accident (most likely will happen cos you will not get any sleep) and get seriously injured, AAA will only pay you $50,000 and cancel your contract with them.

If you don't believe me go visit a tow truck company near your area that works for AAA and ask the drivers what kind of life quality they have. I promise you that you will have alarm bells going off in your head telling you not to do this.

The only reason I can go home after 11 pm to sleep until 6 or 7 am is because my boss handles everything else that comes our way during that time of night/early morning.

If you have friends, family or people in your life that cares about you, you'll focus and work on good advertisments to find work instead.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

Well there's other auto clubs than AAA and I can work for as much or little as I want. So if AAA won't budge then they can stick it.

Oh,

I also want to ask about rates for doing different types of "roadside assistance" work? Is a lockout the same as a battery jump etc.?

Thanks
