dos anybody know if being able to run the machine straight off the car elecricity is just a matter of convenience, or is it better for the machine or battery as well?

I believe that most key machines that are made to run on AC or DC are made that way so the machine can either be used in a shop or in a mobile locksmith van.

The company simply does this so that they don't have to make different models for each purpose.

Also, it allows flexibility. If you get a new code machine for the shop, you can move the shop's old code machine into the van and run it on DC.

You can get the AC version and just get a decent sized inverter for your work vehicle when you want to take it on the road. Thats what my shop does.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

can i make a suggestion, if you are putting a blitz or 1200cm/ formula x into the rear of a van put a few mouse mats underneath it before you fix it in as will stop vibrations, otherwise cogs on teeth for depth an spaces arms will jump an machine will need re-calibrating almost every week
