Uniforms and the image of your business

These are a few pix of our uniform

There are some definite pluses for have a uniform. A few that I can think of is
1. creates a classy or professional image of the company/business
2. creates uniformity in your business ie. every person is dressed the same and don't look like one employe is going to church and the other to a rave
3. creates brand awareness. People start seeing you and your brand everywhere and start remembering the name. That we like. I have had long standing customers that have seen our new uniforms and state that they had no idea we were locksmiths to. Others we meet eg @ banks etc ask for directions to the workshop.
4. Not a good reason but a reason anyway is that you don't have to worry about what to wear to work, it's all sorted out.

What occured to me today while I was paying my bills was that being in uniform can also have a disadvantage. Our local telecommunicator is not the best and I had to restrain from giving them a piece of my mind because I have my uniform and it will cause bad image of my company. Need to be incognito to be naughty

Just some thought but definitely more advantages to have a uniform :D :D

Keep another random shirt in the van with you, or make a fake business shirt to wear when you're being bad. ;)

In our neck of the woods it's not all that uncommon and we also offer other services like dry cleaning, bronzing of shoes( baby shoes) etc. There are quite a few places like this in South Africa.

We also planning to add baseball cap and winter jackets to our uniform. I think I will only stop short of branding all my employees

Yes we stay/work in the western part of South Africainfluenced by the Atlantic ocean. It is generally a hot country 68-89.6 Fahrenheit but like most coastal climate, our winter is quite cold and rainy. Not as cold as you guys with the snow and ice but nasty anyway :!:

When you in my neck of the wood and you need any of my services please feel free to pop in :D :D

haha..
I thought it was so when the person gets locked out and tries to kick the door open, they break something on their shoe and when the locksmith comes to open the door, he can also fix their shoe.

Prag,

As a youngster growing up in Ottawa Canada, I saw Locksmith and Shoe repair together. They were located in every mall in town. They would cut keys, wax and buff boots (former soldier, I can spit shine with the best of them) all while you shopped.
They always had the biggest pair of Red Pointy Cowboy boots and a Key the size of of a small car displayed.

Again, as a former soldier I too agree with uniforms. I have shirts (grey) for my crew. Embroidered or silk screening with the company name. Its great advertising, and cheap. I can get good plain cotton T shirts. I have had many on the spot contracts because of it. I also have had a few people yell at me. Some people will never be satisfied...business as usual.
