Can anyone recommend a US dealer with ilco key machine parts

This is the old Locksmith business info area and will be broken down to fill in the new sections below.

Can anyone recommend a US dealer with ilco key machine parts

Postby nostromo » 12 Mar 2010 12:34

Does anybody have a distributor in the US that they would recommend for ilco key machine parts? I need a key guage, drive belt, and cutter guide for an Ilco Mity Mite 008A.

Found one on Craigslist which replaces the one that came with a Little Falls Locksmith course, which had been lost in one of many house moves a LOOONNNGG time ago. Oh, it's good to travel back in time with my little buddy.

Anyway, I called Kaba Ilco who recommended directly contacting a distributor as they would be cheaper. It's been awhile since I bought from a mainline distributor.

I am greatly looking forward to your recommendations for someone with good prices and service! Thank you!

This might be of some use, http://mysecuritypro.com/ . They have posted on their site in the parts sections that you can call in to ask for availability of parts for your key machine so maybe they can help.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

Check around your area for an O-ring supplier. These work the same as original belts.

Suggestions:
1. Since you have to remove the cutter shaft to install the belt (a pain in the neck), put two O-rings on and just leave one of them laying on the side. This way the machine will be ready to go if the first belt breaks.
2. Super glue works well on the O-rings in a pinch.
3. When not in use, slip the belt off the pulley so it will not be stretched out.
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool. Wisdom is not just in determining how to do something, but also includes determining whether it should be done at all.
