Facebook and Business

Postby globallockytoo » 6 Dec 2010 10:26

It was not too long ago that I was a staunch anti-Facebook supporter. I thought (incorrectly) that FB was a fad that would pass.

I have changed my view.

I believe that it may be the next significant medium of the web, the next Google.

I am sure that many members here may also be Facebook users and as a result, I thought it might be an opportunity to promote my business page.

Now, I realize that this site frowns upon advertizing or plugging your own businesses (especially where they cant earn a quid from it), but I thought I would float the discussion here as to whether or not others thought that the opportunity to "like" a fellow members FB page or their business page, might be appropriate?

The benefits that this might bring a FB business page user is, significant search engine credibility. Propelling your page/s on the search engines because of backlinks and respect that having FB friends is showing across the search engine networks, all FREE. It would not undermine the advertizing here or necessarily promote or free plug businesses, but it might provide opportunities for members here to appreciate and support the individual efforts of some members of this forum.

I think we should discuss this prior to posting a link to your FB page.

Any opinions?

The rules don't say you can URL drop for non-commercial purposes...

4. Signing your name is allowed, however URL dropping in signatures is disallowed and will be removed. Your profile (page) can contain a URL however it may not be referred to. (The only exception to this rule is for moderators, administrators, and approved lp101 commercial site sponsor(s))
