Pondering about a few features

Postby Varminter » 24 Mar 2010 12:44

Just to clarify, this in not meant to be "practical" as much as a semi-impossible to pick and probably to make...
I tried to draw it in autocad but had forgot how to use and find all the functions and tools needed to make it look good so I just made a crude drawing to illustrate what I'm thinking of.

(Key goes in from the right)
The keyway is supposed to be a pain to work with because of the round edges.
It's supposed to have pins in all the corners pointing towards the cylinder so that will be four lines of pins, all together 24 or 28 pins.
It also has two cylinders the first is just to make it difficult to pick, so if you pick the first pin it just rotates and you haven't accomplished anything and have to re-think how to apply tension.
Probably a bad explanation but I've had little sleep and alot of coffee

Any thoughts?
Once upon a time, there was a lovely little sausage called `Baldrick', and it lived happily ever after.

Looks like a standard cross lock.

Yes, it looks similar doesn't it. Except that He basically cut the plug in half. I've played around with a padlock and cut the plug in half before, you pick the front, it turns...all the way around and it doesn't open.

The biggest problem with the design is that you can make a tension tool that goes down the middle of the keyway and only torsions the important part (the rear plug). Then you can use a straight pick and go down each of the four sides and you will only have to pick the four important pins in the lock. Unless I have missed something. Either way, we should both try and get a little more sleep.

I remember seeing a lot of cross locks in Brazil. Almost all the door locks were cross locks there. I've always wanted to bring some back but the big box hardware stores there were just the same as the ones here so I never did find any that were convenient to buy. Is there anywhere where cross locks could be purchased in the US?
