useful aid tool for locksmiths

Postby yono » 30 Dec 2021 2:06

this idea comes to my mind when at one time repairing a euro mortise lock (sort of Cisa brand) disassembling it, and suddenly the spring comes flying out that took me 20 minutes, looking for the spring, where it flown. so i made this thing to secure the portion of the lever handle bar guard, and keep it in place while diaassembling the lock. see the video, you might find it also useful for you.

hi everyone, im glad to be a member of this very interesting community, our community of locksmiths. i hope i could help others, within my ability, and hope you can help me too, God bless us all fellow locksmiths.

I like your simple fix. Not only is it quick and easy, every shop would have the parts needed lying around.

Another solution is a block of wood with a screw. Place the mortise assembly on the block and run the screw(s) through the hole and into the wood. Billdeserthills has a metal block that is drilled and tapped so screws can be hand threaded in the same manner.

Very good advice. Not only is it difficult to re-assemble, it's also sometimes a bit dangerous when strong springs fly around. Therefore I usually screw it to a block of wood, but I will try your method next time.
