Newbie Tension wrench Method lesson by LockNewbie21
Ok guys since i started i used many things for tension wrenchs then by accident i found the correct me if i'm wrong the best material and very cheap to make tensions wrenches. I'll explain
1. go to the dollar store or any generic sotre
2. Pick up a set of headphones..commonly used for portable cd players and tape players mp3 players you get the drift.
3. Make sure the Part that rests on your head is steal
4. rip off the speakers and there you go.
Now what you should have is a piece of spring steal that has just about matching dimensions and flexibility of a soulthord tenshion wrench. You may want to grind it down a bit to fit smaller key ways.
So simply take some good snips cut to desired length. Take sonething round like a screw driver and use it to bend the end that will go into the lock. Notice the flexibility of the material, no heating is needed and it does not weeken, i have been using mine for almost 3 months now.
So basically you have a tension wrnech now pretty much identical to those of southord and peterson ect. You can also add and twist into the hadle to allow a flt surface for better feeling.
Well guys that is my first real thread on do it yourself. I have had unbeatable success with the material and method, so i figured i share the wealth. Tell me what you guys think of this and if it works out for you to![/u][/b]

Until I trashed it on a rusty lock, my headphone headband tension wrench was one of my favorites. It was a bit fat, but the rounded edges, and plastic nub at the end made it really comfortable to use.

I actually tried this as well after a pair of my headphones started falling apart. The steel seems fairly good, but mine was a little thin and bends a bit too easily. But still, it does work, I would imagine some headphones come with bands having the perfect size.

Now that you've told the whole world, I'm betting that security personnel will be doing a Jason13 full body search at Los Angeles International Airport, you'll never even make it to Vegas.

Now you just need to figure out what they give you on the flight that you can use as a pick, and on long flights you can practice lockpicking without having to get lockpicks pasted security on the plane.
If you can't figure out what to use as a pick, put a couple of paqper clips in your havd luggage pined onto some paper. You could even take your own cheap headphones as security will let you take them onto the plane.
And because they are very cheap and crude, you could just throw them away before you get to customs if you are worried about trying to get the picks you made on the flight past them.
That means that I no longer have an excuse not to practice my lockpicking on a long flight
P.S. just remember that taking a padlock onto the place will look a lot less conspicuous than a cylinder. You may even be able to buy the padlocks in the 'duty free' area after your hand luggage has been x-rayed.

HANDS UP!
I'm hijacking your thread
So, apart from headphones, what other products you can buy in the 'duty free' section of an airport that you can make into a quick/cheap set of lockpicks to practice with? something you would not mind throwing away before you get to customs....
Well it is kind of related.

Hands remain down, Although i am new i am familiar with the rules. I a deffinatly think that altleast from common sense and a moderators point of view that discucussing how to quickly fabricate lock picks in an airport, which buy the way if stopp you will with out a doubt be questioned and possibly arrested for possecion of a homemade instriment of crime, and most likely they wont be to friendly (hense 911) and oyu will be arrested. So i am taking back this thread with no offense twards anyone. I dont and would suggest having, fabricating, or using anything to do with lockpicking in an airport unless strictly hired to do so by the airpot itself, this thread will remain for newbies who know of or tried to use my ideas expressed above, if anyone still talks of this illegal matter in here i will have a moderator or administrator remove it immediatly. Other than that happy picking and good luck with my tension wrnech idea
Happy Picking Andy.....newbie

Making/having picks in an airport sure seems like a bad idea. Even discussing it is probably a bad idea in todays world climate. Lets not even continue this train of thought, even as just a thought exercise. Why even tempt the scrutiny of governments?
Andy, you are new here. You have to get used to the fact that we are a talkative groups, and very few threads tend to stay on topic for long.

errr....
good point. I wan't condoning anything illegal, its just i find it fassinating that they take certain items off you when going through security, but then allow you to buy items that can be used for the same thing.
e.g. they remove anything sharp, but sell fountain/cartridge pens, like the one that you can stab through a coke can and afterwards it still is in a good condition to write with.
