Practice 8)
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

Click the link in my signature.
Buy a cheap lock to practise on. Learn how to dissasamble it (from the existing threads on the forum) and with all the knowledge you would have gained - try to pick it :)

You can learn how to make your own picks.
There is also some usefull info around the forum on where to buy picks, if you're not the DIY guy :)

All the info you need to get started is already here - trust me on this one :).

Try using the search button on the top of the page - it will greatly help.

Cheers and good luck!

i was really helped when i started picking by getting really cheap locks 2-3 pins and just doing it over and over and over and over picking super simple things (sisters diary, brothers safe...) one two pin stuff and just getting so used to the simple stuff so u know exactly what is meant to be going on and what you should be feeling when ur picking

If your in the market for more books, tools, videos etc, check lockpickshop.com... The fine folks at LPS sponsor this website, offer a discount to LP101 members (use "LP101" as the cupon code) and have the most amazing customer service that I have come accross in a long time. I have ordered from them four times, and I really want to make sure they're around for a long time :) (hence the plug)

Also, from the Hope hacker confrences, there have been some interesting disucssions and seminars, some audio and video can be found through links on 2600.com....

Enjoy and best of luck.
Picks?!?! We don't need no stinkin picks!
