It is not my intention to bring dishonor to the forum. When I Clicked on the various book covers I was directed to amazon to purchase them. I didn't click on Hamptons book, and for that zeke79 your call was right on.
For future clarity if I had deep linked to only the videos would that have been OK.
I have great respect for the ethical sharing of information that is the hallmark of LP101, and wish to abide by the rules, both literal and in spirit.

It is certainly safer to link to exactly what you are writing about, and then you can carefully check that content, but I don't think any harm was done.

Deep linking would likely be just fine in my opinion.
lusis,
Lockpicking101 is focused on ethics. It would be hypocritical of us to say its wrong to break into someones home or use our picks in an unethical way and then turn around and allow posting of copyrighted material.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

That was not my point. The error was found early and fixed, and I too missed the section where it had the pdf of Hampton's book, which is clearly wrong. So I am not saying there was not a problem, but it was found before it did any harm.

Well to clarify my side of things when i clicked on the books i was able to read every page of the book i clicked on, there was a next page or previous page button underneath and every page was on there, i did not get sent to amazon or anyother place to buy them.
Hamptons book was there as a separate link but as a pdf,
The abus video is still advanced material by the very rules on the site but i see you have still deemed it nessacary to again post it in the public section

Even if the video has "Advanced Material" it is only a link to a location outside LP101 that all can see anyway.

Shrub I am not fighting with you.
If I didn't understand I'm sorry. I only posted this video one time. I did however earlier link to a page that contained this video, and lower down, a pdf of one of Hamptons books. I did not notice or click on Hamptons link, others did however notice and zeke79 removed the link. I asked for clarification if I could deep link to only the video zeke79 Answered " Deep linking would likely be just fine in my opinion".
I deeply respect the ethics of LP101, and wish to abide by the rules, both literal and in spirit.
I did not deep link I moved the file to another server to sever any ties to a questionable page.
Since this technique was demonstrated by barry wells at H2K2 in New York in 2002, and was stated in the video that these things were commonly known at that time, I didn't understand them to be "advanced". I just thought it to be a well made video and wanted to share it.
I consider myself to be an ethical and moral person that has studied locksmithing for many years, and may have something to contribute.
At this point I am recieving mixed signals to say the least, and stand a bit confused.
BTW In my first post I stated "If these belong on advanced forums, and should be moved, I'll leave that to the mods."
The url was removed for copyright reasons.
Shrub go back to that questionable page and click on Guide-index,you will find 16 book covers, all linked to Amazon.

Buzzzzy well thats fine, i cant go to the link as it was removed lol
I clicked on the book cover itself and it came up, i admit i only clicked on 2 of them and saw enough.
I guess the vid only shows how to pick them a bit and not how to make the tool, the vid misses somthing out when he shows the picking of it so it isnt that great for the wannabe robber.
I dont mean to come across harshly and am not falling out either, im sure you do have lots to talk about that we all will find interesting in the future.
If Zeke said it was fine then thats great, a quick line in the first post is normally put by the op which says somthing like 'after the go ahead from the mods i show you this' or somthing, that tends to stop the grumpy ones like me from cying about it

Sorry for the double post
Shrub
No hard feelings! Between the same foolish questions asked over and over again, and making judgement calls on a delicate subject matter must be frustrating at times.
At the same time wanting to contribute something more than ease up on your tension, without stepping over the line , can also be intresting.
Cheers to you and yours
