I found a good few ways to practice picking, first for beginners, you sould buy a cheap lock but without casing just the locking core, remove the barrel with the key and take outall of the springs, ten put back only one of the pins, by doing this without the spring it is a lot easier, after you have MASTERED one pin then add another don't cheat by shaking the lock that is deceitful, shameful and simply bent. The next method is for better pickers, find some cheap springs which are stronger than the ones you get in your lock, replace the ones in your lock with you new springs, this makes it harder to push them up but once you can pick it as if it were a normal lock you will be pleasantly suprised when you pick a real lock and it is a lot easier. Hope this is useful and when you sart off with stonger springs don't video it you will probably not be able to pick it and you will look like a berk.

I do like the idea about different tensions/strengths of springs - I am working a lock right now that has a sick arrangment of security pins and strong springs in it. You can actually feel the springs pushing back the pin as you pick it (it was put together by a local locksmith who feeds me my supply of cores and locks to work on).
