Hey guys... I used to try to pick locks back in the day and I came across this site.. I didnt manage so i gave up... I wanted to learn how to do it so I got this video... that explained alot about picking locks.. It said usually poeple pick them right but dont get the right pressure on the tnsion wrench.. I came to this site and found out how to make a tension wrench and made one out of a nail... i then got an ABUS N.65/30 Padlock I found in my shed and managed to pick it after 10 minutes of trying... then I did it within 20 seconds 4 more times after that... thanks alot guys

once again i feel the need to take full credit for everything. I'll expect my check in the mail sometime next week.
At any rate good job. the first lock is always the hardest... well unless of course you learned bad habits on the first lock that will mess with you from now on.
you are absolutely correct about the tension playing a very important role in picking and every lock is different. being able to control your tension becomes even more important once you start working your way towards security pins (such as spool pins). my advice is to find some good material (like windshield wiper inserts) to make some real nice tension wrenches out of. you cannot have to many tension wrenches. anyway we are glad to have you and im sure i speak for everyone when i say we are glad we could help.
now go get some more locks and keep pickin

just wondering.. i can pick the lock 2 methods... i can apply pressure with the tension wrench then pick the pins, or i can push all the pins up with the pick at the same time, then apply the right ammout of pressure on the tension wrench then picking ones that dropped. is the second way bad in anyway?.. im not sure but i have a feeling

actually as far as i am concerned it still "counts". you are simply exploiting a weakness in the lock design. you should know though that wont always work so well with every lock. it does tend to help when you pick security pins though. so in short i don't see anything wrong with it.

well i can do both.. it just seems easier the second way... but it seems after i have picked them i have to let off a little pressure so the the pins will drop back down a little bit to the sheer line? is this correct, cause its hard to let off just a little bit of pressure cause the lock moves to it and usually sticks in the spot a little bit.
