~Pick Gun How To~

Postby GrodyCody » 2 May 2004 9:10

hey guys,
im still having trouble with my southord pick gun (its the one that takes 3 batteries). The gun works fine but i can't figure out which way to pick any lock. iv only been able to get about two locks and it was by mistake. I drew a diagram because im wondering how the gun should go in the lock and which was the need should go.
Thanks

im not sure how to load pictures so im not sure if this will work

I don't really have any idea about using a pickgun [I know the principle, but never used it]. But I can help you with getting your pictures working.
You can't just link right to your PC, to help you I'll just steal a text that's often posted around here:
Go to www.photobucket.com and register, then login. Upload your photo(s) and then copy the link given in the lower box beneath the image(s).
The correct link starts with [IMG]http........
Paste this link somewhere in your post, and the image will be shown when submitted.
Do a 'Preview' of your post, if you've pasted the link correctly the image will be shown in the preview. When satisfied with your post, hit 'Submit'.

I can't help you out on the correct orientation of the elec gun as I don't have one however as for posting images, this is a great site/server http://www.photobucket.com/ .

I wouldn't call it a mistake that you opened the lock since that's what the gun is suppose to do! Heck, if you keep making mistakes like that that would be awesome...I wouldn't complain! :D

I have the same pick gun my one was faulty and had to send it back for exchange 4 weeks ago and still waiting. The flat side of the pick faces up and the switch faces downward when picking don’t know why? The rounded end of the pick is also face down.
Hope this helps its very hard to explain, at first I was confused as well.

I too have this gun, hold the gun against your hand first and see which way it vibrates against you. One way you will feel nothing and the other it will jump a bit. When you get the side that jumps put this side against the pins, apply slight tension and start the gun. Sometimes it helps if you angle the gun depending on the keyway wards and also sometimes a stop start action on the button can help. Make sure the guns power is not set too high as it cannot move in the lock and can also cause some damage to some locks. A bit of practice and you should get it.

Try "bouncing" the tension a little bit, this sometimes helps it get round those nasty little spool pins
sledgehammers make excellent back up picks!

I know that your pick is not the same as mine but I posted my Instructions because the way that you hold the pick is the same. hope this helps and remeber to take your time and use short brust do not press the the power botton and hold this will damage the pins in the lock or damage the pick OR BOTH !. Never Force the Electropick.
