Help designing 'chuck' for impressioning tool(holds the key)

I am making a sort of handle to hold a key when doing impressioning.
I used a piece of 0.750" round stock for the handle and I knurled it leaving 1 inch unknurled. The only thing I need help with is designing something to hold the key in place at the end, sort of like a chuck. I saw a great post that soeone made about these sort of tools a while back but I can't find it.

Any suggestions?

No that's not it but it gave me an idea Im hitting the milling machine tomorrow Thanks.

Thats the one I remember most. For someone on a budget, of someone woth no access to a milling machine I think it woyld be OK. Please post some pice of what you some up with. I'm looking to find something a little more professional looking than vice grips. But I really don't want to but a commercial one. It's crazy what they want for them!

Will do. I can make the entire thing with a lathe(and the knurling tol for the lathe), a Milling machine, drill press, and die set. Its great having a millwrighting class with all these tools. The lenght of the piece is only about 4 inches and its high speed steel. Enough with the details for now, I'll fill you in better later on with some pics.

The above picture looks like a rear foot peg from by crotch rocket. Its what I put my feet on when I am laying down on the bike.

I might have to play with my OEM ones and see if I can make something along them lines.

Dont be scared of hand tools, i find i do more and more on the bench than the machine as i loose interest so quickly,

Cut it with a hacksaw and finish it off by deburring,

If you machineit the clamp will work worse than if you cut it with a corse blade, this is because a blade wil leave marks used for gripping whereas a machined surface will give you somthing the key will never grip into

I have a simular tool that i use for tieing flies(fishing for those who dont know). It is a round bar with a tapered out end where the slot is, a sleeve goes over the out side. The round bar is threaded on the other end where a handle screws on that tightens the clamp.
It has a quick release handle on it where u pull to tighten or lift to release.
