does the actual key still work?
Wafer style glove box locks are not going to withstand being raked the hell out of. You're bound to bend a wafer and then the original keys will be difficult to insert and turn.
Since you are new, I will tell you that most of us here, with the exception of the locksmiths who do it for a living, do not pick locks that are in use. So stay away from your PT cruiser's glove box, your front door's deadbolt, or your backyard shed's padlock. If you rake too hard and break something inside the lock, now you get to A. either buy a new lock, or B call a locksmith to get you in, and also buy a new lock. C. be in trouble with your parents, your landlord, your college facilities dept, etc.
Be gentle with your locks, and they will open. No need to force things.
I've seen some people on youtube who say they're gonna rake a Master No.3 and then they begin a 30 second assault on the lock raking and jiggling like they're using a Sawzall to cut a car in half.
Nice and easy, patiently, and light tension.
