HELP!!!!!!

hi my name is joe and i cant pick locks lol i found a old set i bought years ago and cant seem to do anyhting after reading for aobut 6 houres i worked up the4 confidance to try to pick my dads 6 pin deadbolt and failed i used the raking method please give me some tips

First off what brand is the lock? Do you know the basics of lockpicking? And now for the most important question. Is this 6 pin deadbolt the one securing your home? If so stop trying to pick it. You can and likely will damage the lock making is useless.

Did you ask your daddy, if it was ok that you played with his lock?

I recommend that you, if possible, take out all the pins except for one
and do the 10677

If not then buy a cheap padlock (not chinese), make sure that it has a
maximum of 4 pins and doesn't say security or pick resistant!

if you dont have permission to dissasemble the lock, i would get a hook and try spping it. go to the first pin and push it up and down and try with different ammounts of tension and just get the feel for it. when you got the "feel" of how a pin moves then go all the way to the back and try to set each pin individually.

I agree with the others. I started recently with a Kwikset deadbolt, it's very easy to remove the pins and reseal the pin stacks, only takes a couple of seconds to add/remove pins which is great for learning and eventually teaching others. Padlocks are good too, but you generally can't take the pins out of them. A Masterlock #3 is a good easy one to start with.

Its good that you started by gaining as much info as possible. Since its your dads lock, he probably wont let you take it apart. If you really want to pick that specific lock look for videos with breakdowns of the lock to gain a better mental picture, or like many have already said, go buy a cheap lock and take it apart

Try searching through the forum, there are tons of picking basics. Also, you could try getting on a video site, and look for videos, tutorials, or animated cutaways of lock picking. They helped me a bunch back in the day.
