I have held both of the Southord Jack knives (The Stainless and the Fiberglass) honestly, I think that the stainless feels much more robust. I purchased it, and I have been happy with it. The fiberglass felt flimsy. I saw a picture here of one that was broken in half it appeared. The stainless is quite solid feeling and the picks lock in place nicely.
I've been picking office furniture with it for three days now and I have no complaints.

For all thoes new to the site and lockpicking, LP101 is a great place to start.
Take a look at the new users section, first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting. Cause everyone should HYSF as well as there Pick-fu.
If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU OR ANYONE ELSE RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU OR ANYONE ELSE RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).
Keep it legal.
Cheers,

I've used both, and I preffred the fibreglass one for some reason.
The metal one feels more sturdy and I have no doubt that it would last longer.
Go for whichever one looks best - you'll probably end up buying a set of indiviual picks long before the fibreglass one breaks.

I have one of the fiberglass ones. The first one I took delivery on failed to retain the tension wrenches and the vendor shipped me a replacement no charge (Southern Specialties). It works well for what I purchased it for, a guarantee that I would always have a pick set with me. I still prefer a standard set of picks, but find it works well for basic picking. I've not had it long enough to comment on durability. I thought the fiberglass version would make more sense for me as I've already got a considerable number of items in my pockets every day and the weight of the metal one seemed an unnecessary burden.
It's a good day when I learn something new.

Stainless one is stronger and would last longer but both have importance in different workouts.

Hi there i would just like to add my bit.
I own the Southord Jack Knife and it work,s very well but the locking screw keep,s on coming undone so order a couple of spares and also order a spare tension wrench while your at it.
Even with its little niggles still a great tool.

i love my jacknife from lpt.com i would say the only difference in the two is that you get a few extra tools with the lockpicktools jack knife but hey. price wise i think its a better purchase too. just my humble opinion. as far as quality and craftmanship, i have to say that my jackknife consistently impresses me. it goes through a beating in its travels with me and still holds up to any lock i throw at it. really though, its all about what you feel is better for you. just because i like apples doesn't mean that you will ya know what i mean?

I just started picking so i'm not sure how it holds up against a set. But i'm pretty stoked on it (fiber glass) it's much better than the kwikpick i used to have haha

i own both a stainless and a fiberglass version and must say that the stainless is far and away better. i originally bought a fiberglass one because it was cheaper and i had all of the problems everyone here has mentioned. loose set screw that i eventually lost. after losing that and continually making sure that the new one stayed tight, the body eventually broke in half.
i liked the actual function of the set and eventually ordered another to replace the broken one and obviously decided to go with the stainless since i'm not hulk and i'd never be able to crack it. i haven't had a single problem with it since. not even a loosening set screw. the feedback is the same, it carries well, taking wear and tear like a champ, and, in my opinion, isn't all that much heavier than the fiber.
so, basically, it's worth the extra few bucks to go for the stainless
