what do you exactly plan to do "im after it!"? run after the truck-roll the driver and cut all the bristles off with pliers!

on a serious note

i think they get sucked up after they get dropped

i'll buy a water pistol, hold the driver hostage and drive home(in a big police chase) then cut off all the bristles...then call my lawyer

I appreciate the humour, but being serious now, in the UK if the driver reports that he was held up, the Police take a VERY dim view (even if it was only a water pistol).

The law considers that if the "victim" believes that the item concerned was a firearm, then that is sufficient for the case to go ahead as if the "weapon" concerned was a firearm.

Remember the "cucumber robber" who threatened shops and post offices with a cucumber in a plastic bag (I believe he is still inside) and the Hackney incident, where a man was shot dead by the "Armed Response" unit of the Police for having a table leg in a bag (in the dark it would have been difficult for them to determine the risk).

I have a Council Depot near where I work, if I get some time in the next week, I'll pop in and see what the sweeper bristles are made of and what happens to those that fall/break off.
sledgehammers make excellent back up picks!

they clean dirt, muck, oil, rubber, and other debris off the streets. they probably throw it all in the landfill afterwords... what we're interested in is the brissels of the cleaning brushes that come off on the streets as they are cleaning.

It's amazing how easy it is to find bristles once you know to look for them. I found ten a few days ago walking from MIT to Harvard and back...and I have to compete with eager friends who want them for the same purpose!

Anyone wanna post a pic up for me showing a bristle and a street cleaner?

Also, is there instructions in greg's site on what to do with the bristles?

its just like a brush that you use on your hair, sometimes a bristle will fall or get pulled out. dremels are awsome for making picks out of these. you can even use a buffing head and buff the rust off the bad ones. there usually about 8 or 9 inches long so you could probably make 2 picks from each bristle. i just made a set the other night.
Picking locks like picking my nose, its only a matter of time till i hit pay dirt.

They work very well for tension wrenches as well. In the MIT guide it shows just how to bend and turn them to make excellent wrenches that give pretty good feedback.
