Southord snap gun. How do I use it?

Postby tenchi1774 » 5 Dec 2003 20:21

I just bought a Southord snap gun and I've tried forvever to get the thing to work. I've read through the forums and so far havent found anything that helps.

So far I've tried jiggling, rocking, and every type of movement possible while in the lock. So far nothing has worked. Could someone please tell me what I'm not getting, or what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks. [/b]

You use the gun and the tension wrench at the same time, waht the gun dose is it pops up all the picks at the same time and there is a sheer line for a split second and you turn the tension wrench, it will take a while to get used to using it, good luck :D

Arg ive heard bad things about that particular snap gun. If its the one i think it is the EZ snap gun - BE CAREFUL, it supposedly breaks easier than other ones. Im ordering a Brockage one in January

I havent been too successfull with the snap guns. The only ones it has worked on for I can pick very easy manually. The tougher ones to pick I can never get with the gun.

I read somewhere that the mushroom, spool, and serrated drivers make the snap/vib less effective which may be why I can pick them manually but not with the gun.

Why a 63 piece set?! You'll just be confused! I started out 2 months ago with a southord MPXS-14 and it's served me very, very well so far...I imagine that a Electric Pick would take the fun (and learning experience!) out of it. Like I said I started out 2 months ago and can now get in to 10 different types of padlock within a maximum of 30 seconds (These range from cheap Master lock copies to 6 pin padlocks with security pins, I can also get in my front door, most filing cabinets and lock-boxes) and I haven't needed anything but 2 sizes of half-diamonds, a hook, a rake and a whole lot of patience....You will be rewarded!
