Wow. I did not think my post would be so inspiring to others. It is certainly my favourate pick. I have just made another which is between the size of my two picks previously shown. It too works pretty well for most of my locks but it is a little more sturdy as the shaft is slightly thicker. :D

Will try and post a pic soon.

I modified a pick like jimmythelock's and I tell you, it's my favorite pick! I use mine about 90% of the time. I'm going to make an exact copy as a spare. Way ta go jimmythelock! :D

I finally received my practice lock (which has already proven to be a very good purchase, something I should have done a year ago when I started picking!) and I must say I never realized until now just how often a pick will slip from the cone-shaped tip of key pins. I can't for the life of me understand why there aren't more picks designed like jimmythelock's and variations on this pin-gripping theme. Good work jimmythelock, I modified two hooks today and felt instant improvement. A pick with a tip shaped like a tiny cup -- would that work? If it were small enough to move around freely inside the keyway...

Hmmmm.......

Only one way to find out. Report back on how well it works for you.
