You're thinking of a bathroom stall in a public bathroom...
they're talking about a lock on bathroom door in a home...
I wish the world was flat like the old days, and I could travel just by folding the map.

bathroom stall locks.

Postby CrossCleaver » 8 Jun 2004 7:14

sorry about the mix up it's the word "stall" that threw off. i though you ment public restroom. but if it's basic household i can still help. latch/deadbolt coat hanger from top or bottom.(may have to wedge the door open alittle with a pry bar. if is a basic turn key lock just pick it or try the old "credit card through the crack" trick. chain latch- use coat hanger must be able to pull it because pushing it can be difficult. if they padlock the door just kick it in.

There are 2 ways 2 do this.

1. Take a credit card. Then shove it where the latch enters the bevel. Just wiggle it around till your in front of the bolt and then push.

2. Take the smallest skrewdriver u can find and shove it in the back until you feel it enter a keyway about the size of the little hole. Turn.

Those bathroom door locks are the easiest things to pick. Take a standard bic pen and remove the ink tub. Insert the ink tub into the door's lock. You will feel it press up against something and you'll feel it press in, turn the handle and the door opens.

We have one of those, and a toothpick works just fine.

There's also a type of bathroom/bedroom door lock that uses a tool similar to a flat head screwdriver. Both in college and in my house I've had locks that could be opened using tools that resembled the screwdriver. The ones in my house, however, can apparantly be opened by using a basic torque wrench in the little hole.

Wow, four pages all on how to pop a privacy lock! I can't pass up the opportunity to add my 2 cents here as this has brought back old memories.

When I was a kid I cut off a piece of a coat-hanger and filed the end into what would effectively be a standard screwdriver. This sufficed for both type of these locks. It could either apply direct pressure, or fit into the slot and be turned. I believe I also had a 90° angle at the top, which made turning it easier, and made it less likely to impale you when pushing.

Too late to help... he probably had to changed clothes by now. If not he's dancing to much to get the door unlocked.

This is another reason why I advocate the use of adult diapers. 8)
