tubular pick without pin inside

Postby reynsa » 4 Feb 2011 10:41

Does anyone know if you can buy a 10 pin tubular pick without the pin inside it?
Or does anyone know how to take the pin inside away?

watch this if something isn't clear

I only have a 7 & 8 pin SO tubular pick but one the 7 pin tool, that pin broke off very easily under regular use. It's just a spring steel roll pin so it should just snap off without much effort.

Can a 10 pin tubular lock open this kind of lock? ( the octagon you see is actually more "roundish" as you can see on the photograph)
I'm asking this because 10 pin tubular lockpicks have got a round shapes...? But I suspect this could work, not sure... anyone who is sure about it?

thx

I can't answer about the octogon but as you said, it probably would do the job. although the drawing of the octogon is a bit difficult to answer by, the octogon has unequal sides and pin spacing is variable,

there is no need for the interior pickup as the key pushs on the pins to turn the core in the one on the video

THE VIDEO HAS THE WORST TECHNO MUSIC, just turn the sound off, no audio information is on it.

I had not even known that southord makes a ten pin tubular until you linked that video, I dont visit their site more than a few minutes every 3-4 years.

I will be interested to see if anyone here has experience with these locks and that pick to report. and does this pick address the masterlock streetcuffs?

the drawing of the lock is just a simplified version of the photo below it because the photo isn't clear... measurements aren't accurate, it's just to show how the lock looks like
so :the octogon has equal sides and pin spacing is not variable...
(btw: the video isn't mine)

They sell the octogon tubular pick here, http://www.lockpicktools.com/tubular-picks.htm and by the description of that tool it doesn't sound like the SO tool would be a good fit. I think the Peterson Pro-1 can do this lock too but you'll need to buy the attachment for it separately. Although both are pretty pricey compared to the SO pick if you can make it work.

Please post a picture of that lock you're so interested in. I'd like to see what it is securing... Thanks.

You're right squelchy,

I thought it was a poorly cropped picture.

Cheers :)
