boring old stuff...

Every month I come back to see if there is anything new and exciting. Once in a while there is a cool new topic or new information. But it just isn't exciting anymore once you know all the basics and most of the tricks. I'm also a terrible teacher, so I can't even get any excitement out of someone else learning.
I just applied to adv forums again so at least I might get some info on the stuff I'm currently working with. I have a feeling I'll get denied again, as I don't enjoy talking on public forums... What can I say, I'm a reader not a writer.
Anyone know any other places to get cool new info? I'm a bored mechanic/lockie/engineer that has too much time on his hands. So I make new tools, bust open new locks and screw around with just about anything to amuse myself.

Feel free to pm me any info or suggestions for new activities. Any lock under $100 is now boring. Too easy to open, security pins are laughable. Medeco has proven to be somewhat challenging.

Its fine. Rules are your own to make. I'm just one of those people that don't enjoy talking. I honestly won't reach 40 posts by probably 5 years from now. I've been here for a few years at least and have < 10 posts But I've probably read almost every single post. Just looking for something else to read. Can't blame a guy.

Wow man, your excitement is downright contagious.. The point of the forum isn't to read every post, and then pound on the door to Advanced so you can then read every post in there and leave to go somewhere else... Are you the frickin Borg or something? Btw, rules aren't his own to make, the rules were made by the elders of the forum many years ago before you even signed up. I can't believe in 4 years you didn't read the rules for applying for Advanced access... that's just shameful.

The point is to join a community and to share and exchange information, make some friends or acquaintances, contribute to the growth of the community and to that of the hobby. Otherwise the personal rewards become very limited, you get bored with it and things stagnate.

When you find your new thrill, let us know what it is, Ive been looking into some gunsmithing, but its an expensive thing to learn and the american gunsmithing institute AGI that keeps sending me mail ads to buy one or other cd is not an option for me, I bought the cheap intro cd and it was badly done, the focus was from the days of VHS tape though it was on a cd, these people dont realize that production values are part of what one pays for, I can't get anything out of a guy showing me a bright shiny object in fuzzy focus,
If their intro cd had been better I might have bought some more of their stuff. but the 1911 sliding away from the front of the screen like that dialogue sliding into space in starwars the first movie, its a tired gimmick, good lighting and sharp focus would have been better,

Each to their own. I find I enjoy learning about one thing and moving on to the next. If there is nothing further to learn, then why re-read the same old book and discuss something you already know. I suppose in that instance, yes, I am similar to the borg that way. I take in the info, use it and apply it to suit my lifestyle and then find new and more interesting information to 'assimilate'.
Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for all the information past and present, but I've already worn out my boots in this area. I need new and exciting like the next guy said. I am already somewhat into gunsmithing too (funny you mention that), I got my FAC, and am learning mostly about proper gun servicing. I don't think I'll venture much into accessories design, as most of them are illegal. and I've also recently purchased a new safe so I can practice safe cracking. Life is short hence why I dig in and learn what I want and at the end of the day I'm a happy dude.

I know how it is man, I'm the same way. I always find it more difficult to have a conversation with someone through forums than in person. Plus it just doesn't seem like there's much reason to post when the information is already there, except to ask a question.
