HELP....Brinks brass padlock!!!

OK, so this weekend i picked up a brinks brass padlock. this thing is impossible! iv watched you tube video after video and still cant do it. on my lock when i apply pressure with the top tension, i see the plug rotate a little so i don't know it that is effecting the lock or what? also ive tried using a small hook as well as a medium half diamond. SPP is preferred! any help would be great!

What kind of picking experience do you have? The Brinks locks typically have spool pins, so if you are not used to security pins, that may be an issue. You can expect to see a little bit of plug rotation on just about any lock to varying degrees.

Can you feel any pins binding or setting? If so, start there, and keep in mind that practice is your best friend. A great piece of advice is to so a search here for Solomon's guide to picking.

GWiens is right. But the security pins are random. there could be none and there could be four, there could also me one in the second and third position. finding these pins is the key because you need to pick them before applying your tension. get familiar how the binding pins feel so you can locate your spool pins and mushroom pins. they dont bind like a normal pin at all. once you locate the security pin(s) you can then use a simple rake for the rest. If you are having a lot of trouble and are getting plug rotation you may have a spool pin. To get around the guys you should try reverse rotaion. Press up on the pin in question and if the plug start to rotate in the opppsite keep pressing up on it until it clicks in pace. If all goes well you will have set the spool pin.
