@Jacob Morgan: I'm glad you found the book and were able to compare it with the film. I appreciate your detailed post and wanted to let you know that I read it and will respond soon via PM. I am actually in a very busy week right now (not to mention daylight savings to make early mornings even earlier) so I want to send you my thoughts and questions when I have more time to do so. Have a great evening!
In the video game Sleeping Dogs you have to pick open locks in a semi-realistic manner. No TW used though, but the pick looks legit and the process involves setting the pins like in a real lock. If you fumble, some of the already set pins will fall down and you have to start again.
Like so:
The game itself was pretty entertaining with an open world and a lot of side quests. The main story line wasn't too bad either.

I was watching Burn Notice last night and noticed a scene where Westen was picking a lock. At the very least he was using real tools, a turning tool and a pick...Then the pick went into the keyway and they faded out to another scene. At least they didn't show him using just a pick...or some other goofy things I've seen in movies and shows.

Some of you may have already seen this, but it's a very fun hour long talk with some big names in our hobby talking about how movies get lock picking right and wrong.
very enjoyable to watch, filmed at the HOPE XI conference with lots of TOOOL members and friends.
I was in the audience that night, and on this night at the HOPE 12 conference:
I happened to watch The Italian Job again recently. There's a scene where they need to get into the bad guys house and need to disconnect the cable service. To access the local cable lockbox, they get out a pick and wrench, yet after they get the lock off the box, we get a clear view of the Master warded lock that they removed. ROTFL.
