if you read the MIT guide and other similar guides that are available currently you'll have a better understanding of how locks work and will be able to determine which way to use the pick gun on which particular lock.
if you're trying to use it on a lever or warded lock, it won't work - they're the ones that are traditional "keyhole" shaped.
Oh look! it's 2016!

I got one of those. You need to understand what it does in order to really use it well. After a little practice, I was opening all kinds of padlocks/deadbolts/etc. Then after that, I got bored with it and went back to manual picks.

I have that gun, don't really know why, but I do. It seems a lot of people think it takes absolutely no skill (which is mostly true) but you really do need to know how and why it works. If you don't, you probably won't be able to open locks consistently. I haven't really seen a video on it, but here's what I did to figure it out: take two or more pins out of a kwikset, it sure is easier (it'll take like thirty seconds to learn to open it regularly). After a few minutes add more pins and pretty soon it's really easy. Hope that helps.

Not sure if this might help, but...
I've heard that guns are pretty bad to use, you should try manual like Cypherninja, I think that manual is more fun and easier (not technicly)
Wouldn't it be cool if you could look at people and make their heads explode?
