Finding a Master lock Combo.

Postby muddy » 28 Dec 2003 1:13

hi - i really need to open a master combo lock (its got a black dial with the red arrow indented) - brother 4got his combo *sigh*
i've done some searching and realised that i need to find the last number (3rd one) of the combination by finding the 'sticky' places.

I've found 12 sticky places, but i have no idea which one of them is the 3rd number...here are the numbers below:
2 - 2.1
5.1 - 5.8
8.9 - 9
12 - 12.1
15.1 - 15.9
19 - 19.8
22 - 22.4
25.1 - 26
28.9 - 29
32 - 32.5
35.1 - 36
38.8 - 39.1

Can someone plz help!?

thank you :D

IMH, Your last number would be 19.

Like you, I had no "proper" sticking place.

Here's the method I used :

yeah, after looking through more sites i also decided it wa 19...but then i went through the 64 combos....and the lock didn't open :( ... im not sure, but i think it might be coz im not turning it correctly...

eg - for 5-1-19 ...5 to 1, im fine...but 1 to 19...do i turn a full circle first, or do i just stop at 19 when its just around half way...same with say...X-39-19...

thanks for the help so far!

what could i be doing wrong??? (i just went through the 64 again) yes i am really desperate to get the combo of the lock - but still no success....could it be that from the 100, there are ones that aren't in the 64 that are possibilities???

Opening a combo lock :
- reset the lock : at least one turn clockwise.
- still turning clockwise, stop at the first number. If you overcome it, turn clockwise again until you reach it.
- counterclockwise : one turn (no more, no less), then still couterclockwise, reach the second number. If you overcome it, restart the combination from the beginning.
- clockwise : directly go to the last number. You may overcome it a little and go back a little if you want.

THANK YOU gaamin!!! - i got the lock open :D (second last combination :( - but still open:))

but a though struck me when the lock made that satisfying 'cluck' sound when it opened - if there are 64 comb. to each last number, and there are 40 last numbers..doesn't that mean that there are only 2560 diff combinations??? - i always thought it would be something like 25000+
