The keyway is "upsidedown" for us americans, so you would need to apply tension on the *bottom* of the keyway as you view it, but closest to the top pins.

It seems that there are two basic kinds of 'diskus' padlocks. One is made in China and seems to be sold by Master, Brinks, ACE, etc. I am not sure they are exactly the same, but the Chinese versions are very similar. They have a fairly straight keyway slot and I would rate them a little tougher than a 4 pin Master laminated padlock. The other is made in Germany (Abus brand) and has a crooked (parametric) keyway. They keyway alone makes this lock a lot tougher, I think you need Euro picks (but a small regular hook or diamond might do it). The Abus is definately more of a challenge than the Chinese knockoffs. You also can get the Abus in either 4 or 5 pins, which of course, effects how hard it is to pick.
Because of my limited selection of tension wrenches, I pick these with my wrench in the TOP of the keyway away from the pins. I am not recommending this method, but it is doable if your wrenches are like mine and don't fit in the bottom.

I also have one that looks exactly like the lock in the picture, but it's a Chateau.

The crooked keyways that "go beyond" the centerline are paraCENTRIC not parametric.

Forgot to say, did manage to pick mine. Used a regular wrench and a Southord hook, if I remember correctly. Not hard, but then, mine's a knockoff company, and those're almost never hard.

Grudge, if you want to check out a wicked paracentric keyway, Ask a 'smith if he has any Best IC cores in the new patented keyway. Its enough to make your picks cry.

Chucklz, is that the new PEAKS IC core?
Of course, I am getting killed by a Medeco KeyMark keyway already, so it may be awhile before I get a new challenge lock
Thanks for the info!

I just got one yesterday, I am in tears right now on it. It's all they use on base. This thing is showing me the usefullness of a demo charge to a lock
