I've bought and have seen that DVD. It was a waste of money.

How so? I have a gift certificate to a store that carries it and I was considering using the certificate to buy it.

To be perfectly blunt (because that's how my morning's been going)... the video plays like an hour-long advertisement for SouthOrd, done with the high production quality (and soundtrack) of an 80's porn movie. Reading the posts here and browsing YouTube for 30 minutes will, in my opinion, get you far further for far less money.

We bought it and show snippets of it during out meetings.. I don't know how helpful it is for the new members though. He goes over some cool bypass techniques that would make some happy to have purchased it. For some reason the copy we purchased has horrible sound quality. Although we have the purchased copy on hand, I think we have used our downloaded copy to show during the meetings because of this reason.

To be fair it isn't just an ad for SouthOrd its an ad for raking too:) He loves that fcker like its his firth born.

With that said I think it isn't too bad of a video for an overview of the various lockpicking methods/options out there (even if he is goo goo for SouthOrd).

Some of the presentation videos around on google and such contain a lot of similar information but in the video it is presented crisply and without a feeling of being rushed as some of the convention presentations have.

If you are new to picking it may be worth it, if you have done some reading and understand some of the other presentations out there its probably not.

Don't forget the tubular pick tool as well.

yeah, he does have a tubular pick. I watched this video before I really got much experience with picking and I feel that it did give a good overall view at picking as a whole. He does seem to really like raking, which I didn't feel helped too much, but he does have a nice cutaway to provide clear demonstrations. This video has some other fun tidbits that are useful too. He demonstrates how to pick handcuffs, in addition to using the tubular lock pick. I am trying to remember, but I also think that he actually shows you how to modify an pair of electric scissors to use it as an electric pickgun. There are some other things that make this DVD a worthwhile view.

You can watch videos of people picking/raking locks on youtube, but those presentations are typically as follows:

1. The most common is people showing that they can pick (usually rake, actually) a lock in a matter of seconds without actually explaining what they do. Basically, it's kind of a "lookie what I can do" kind of video.

2. There are also some videos that might show you text saying what they are kind of doing.

3. After that, there are some people who do tutorials and take the time to actually explain what they are doing, although most of the time, it seems like they are fairly disorganized and don't follow some sort of outline. These are fairly rare, but these tend to be fairly useful.

4. And finally, the most rare videos, there are the organized videos who follow a good structured outline with good camera angles and good quality sound. These are typically ripped from a DVD and are subject to copyright infringement laws.

I wished he had included bumping. I would have liked to see a tutorial on how to bump a lock.

If you're looking for a good tutorial video on lockpicking check out these, http://www.lockpickshop.com/PRO-LP-DVD.html . Its from the same guy who made the "Lockout Specialist Course".

I have a copy of it on video and its pretty good. He emphasizes many times the need for light tension like we do here and really covers SSP, raking and automatic pick tools in great detail compared to so many other lockpicking video productions thats just tries to catch your attention and then let you down.

I watched it today.

It wasn't bad at all.

It isn't like an hour long Southord ad. In fact, I only heard Storm mention Southord once, when he recommended the tubular pick offered by Southord and that was it.

I liked some of his entry methods, especially using a thumb tack and rubber band to open a door guarded by a locking chain, very ingenious.

The reason why this movie sucks, is because the guy who made it is a complete creep. The creep factor of this guy is through the roof. Completely creepy.

Yeah he was creepy. Creepy music, scenes, etc. The impressioning part was VERY creepy. It was if he was breaking into the desk at night. I mean it looked light it was pitch dark where he was and only lit by a flash light.

Nevertheless, I took a few things from it.
