Quick way to open a Master Lock

Postby Cameron Flint » 31 Aug 2004 15:28

Here it is...please don't blame me if you do something stupid and get caught for it (which in that case, i would hope you would)... and for those of you who don't intend to: Enjoy!
I laid off posting it 'cause i'd read all the refusals for safecracking tutorials; i guess this is a different story. :?

I hope it works... If it does not and anybody finds anything wrong with it feel free to let me know. Or, in the case that i didn't explain enough, i'd be happy to try and clarify.

For those of you that want to know, the serial no. to my lock is 6 digits, the first 3 being 900.

How to open a Master Combination Lock Quickly…revised.

First of all, spin the dial 3x to the right to clear the mechanism (you probably know that already). Stop at 0.

A Brief Introduction:
Before we move on, one should remind the other that there are 12 gates… 11 fake and 1 genuine. The real gate is ‘sharper’ then the others and will be felt with less pressure than you would need to feel any of the other false gates. So when you pass it, you should be able to feel it much more distinctly. But you know that.

1) After clearing, put pressure on the shackle with your left index finger (considering your left hand is holding the lock, otherwise obviously you would switch). Spin the dial quickly.
2) Do you feel the multiple clicks indicating the false gates? If you do, ease up pressure.
3) Do you feel any at all? If not, add a little pressure with your finger.
4) Anyway, the goal is to isolate the correct gate. If you’ve got the right pressure upwards, the dial will stick slightly in one spot upon each full rotation.
5) Generally speaking, you’ll be able to push the shackle up twice; that is, you’ll feel it give about halfway, then you can push it up once more. When you start, push the shackle down as far as it goes. After the first give, add or decrease the pressure slightly… you’ll feel the solitary click around there.
6) CAUTION: Sometimes the dial will at first stick on 0… this may be the right one but MOST LIKELY it’s not. Increase pressure slightly and see if it changes. If it doesn’t, and it’s the only isolated spot, go for it. Remember, when I say push it up, I mean do it slowly, by little bits. It’s a fine line to find it, but with practice pretty easy.
7) Do you hear a sharp click at the same spot once every rotation? Double check a few times. Then…
8) Add 5 to the number you just got. It’s the last number in the combination. Clear the lock. Go left once or twice then apply pressure.
9) Repeat steps 1-4. When you think you’ve got it, do not add 5 to this number… it’s your real second no.
10) Now all you have to do is find your first number… if your last number is, say, 30, your first number is one of the following… 2, 6, 10, 14, 18, 22, 26, 30, 34, 38.
11) You probably are familiar with what I did there but to those of you that aren’t, the key is finding the MOD; or the remainder of your last number by 4. So 30 MOD 4 is 2 (30\4 = 7 with remainder of 2). So you have to try 10 different combinations instead of the usual 64.
12) If it doesn’t, try adding 6 instead of 5 to your first number.
13) Basically, remember
· To find the LAST NUMBER, turn RIGHT and apply pressure.
· To find the SECOND NUMBER, turn LEFT and apply it.
· Then, figure out the only 10 possibilities for the first number and dial them individually.

That's good information, and nicely organized. But that method has been described a few times before. A good refresher though.

Okay, for those of you who tried the method and failed... i purchased a cheap comb. lock the other day out of town, not a master, and found that

-When turning RIGHT, on this lock where it stuck plus 6 was the first number, instead of the last.

-Turning LEFT, i got the second number if i subtracted 1 and a half. (i'm assuming this is 'cause i caught the edge of the gate.)

Try that and see if it works.

And for those of you with a bad temper who snapped off your dial,

bahati yako mbaya!! (Your bad luck) :D

Postby Wolf2486 » 10 Sep 2004 20:31

I can find the last number easy, but I am having trouble with the second number.

nope

Postby Wolf2486 » 10 Sep 2004 22:53

Yes, this I have read already, it didn't work. I was hoping someone with a little more in depth knowledge of this subject would give me another method of finding the second number.

I cant find the sticking points and its driving me mad!!!! *sigh* i have been following multiple tutorials about how to pick this master lock combination lock. People say about how they did it in there first try. I had a lock and i tried to practice on that but it sticks so wierdly and its so hard to tell if its sticking or not. Sometimes when it sticks on a certain number (say 16) i would be so sure then when i try to check again it would stick on like 14 or 13! I can never be sure, and when i just go through and write down sticking points, I don't get a pattern that you stated were the ones place is the same.

I had to take that lock to school and put it on my locker so bought another one and gave a friend the combination, but i accidently (stupid prying eyes) got a glimpse of the last number, 26, so i just thought let me go from there and i did the math part with the modulus and stuff and i got it perfectly, turns out the combination is 26-12-26 but the thing is I dont know how to find the last number. If only i can find the last number then i could do the rest without a problem. This is making me grow gray hair!!!

My lock looks exactly like this one on ebay (except it doesnt use the wierd technique to open it like the guy said). http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 65876&rd=1 It opens just like the one described inyour tutorial but looks exactly like that except a bit older (by being used alot not by model).

master combo locks

sometimes if you strike them sharply wth a hammermon the side from the 10 o clock to 4 o clock postion on the dial they will pop

the older the lock the better the chance

I think your lock is a new 'high security' lock...
here's a link to a site that's supposed to help you open such things. I've never tryed it, because i've never bought the newer style. Supposed to open in 17 trys. :?

www.geocities.com/masterunlocked/newlocks.html

Although you've probably already tried this???
