Ok, so i have this sentry electric combo "fire proof safe", you know the kind. the only difference is that this one does not have a key-safty backup, so if i forget the combo, im stuck. i have tried to find into on cracking it, but no luck so far...anyone got any ideas?

There's a factory default code that will open it every time. It exists in one of two forms. It's either the same for every safe in that particlar model, or more likely, the factory has a default code mated to the serial number. I'm sure there's even more ways to bypass them, but I don't know of any and those who do generally don't discuss them in the open forums.

Write down the combination on a piece of paper and keep it in the safe. Ah, no, wait, erm....

I think you may struggle getting a code off Sentry if i remember rightly theyve never been that helpful.

Is it possible to take the keypad off the firebox? It may be possible some instructions are there to teach you how to reset the code. Or you could just do some wiring from the keypad to a computer and brute force crack it, then you have the code. Your best bet is taking off the cover and looking for a code though. On that subject, anyone know how to reset the code for a ADT security system? My parents friend is moving to her mothers for 2 years, and cant seem to reset the keypad. A website showing how to do it also is good.

The default code is mathematically unrelated to the serial number, it is just stored alongside it in a database. They won't just give it to you, they have to have some sort of verification of who you are. You best bet is to not forget what the combo is, and if you do, you'll have to call a tech.

Too bad it's electronic otherwise we might be more helpful, but you can drill through the bolt. Use a cobalt drill bit. I might look up some more info on the subject, and post it later

they are also REALLY easy to bypass - do not store anything you want to keep in a sentry safe, use it only as a fire safe
when you register with sentry as a locksmith they are very good about giving out codes and help here in the US

If you haven't already tried many codes on this safe, try getting some really powdery make-up. And brush it on the keypad. If it works properly, you should see your fingerprints on the pad. Then, make a chart of all possible codes, and work from there. It will take a while but you'll get it eventually.

18 VOLT drill does the trick. Makita is the best I've heard of.

Somtimes there is a bypass key hole that is hidden underneath a plastic plate which then has a sticker over it, check out any stickers or emblems on the front
