I'm kinda proud of myself ... although, I do know I still need a lot of practice. I recently purchased a Southord 14pc lock pick set with metal handles, about 2 weeks ago. I also purchased a bunch of locks to practice on. A couple 4 pin Master pad locks, a Brinks shielded lock (which I pick in the video) and a couple of kwikset 4-5 pin doorlocks.
Now... I have picked all of these at least 100 times each. As well as all the door and bolt locks on my house. I can pretty much pick all of these with a short hook pick and a double ended tension wrench, I have rarely been using a rake. I have only raked locks to get a few pins set quickly, then I'll pick the others by hand with a hook pick. I can usually pick all these locks under a minute. Some quicker than others.
I'm getting pretty bored with these easy low security locks... Can anyone recommend me some higher security locks to start practicing on?
Anyway, here is the low quality video that I took with my camera phone, about 20 minutes ago. It's just a simple 4 pin brinks lock that I pick with a short hook pick. It's ridiculously easy now... although, it was difficult for me when I first started trying to pick locks a couple weeks ago. It probably took me about 15 minutes initially to pick this lock. Now, I know the pins in this lock like the back of my hand.
You will need QuickTime to view this video. Standard 3g2 QuickTime format.

A Medeco, Abloy and some Kabas . I'll keep my eye out for the videos.
Some things may be pick proof, but everything can be bypassed....

Well, I did type out the question myself. triman247 wrote:SEARCH!
I figured that me asking on the message board of a website called "Lockpicking101" would naturally help me improve my search. triman247 wrote:"What type of locks should I buy is a daily occurance here!
This is the same conclusion that I came to as well. Which brought me to the idea of asking that particular question due to the fact that people discuss locks here on a daily basis. triman247 wrote:Just figure it out!

You missed the point. The question is asked so often that you should search for your answer using the search engine, not ask it again. Asking a question isn't searching, it's asking.

Watching the video, I've come to the conclusion that you are indeed raking, although that depends on how broad your definition of raking is. I define raking as scrubbing, jiggling, or anything short of setting all the pins picking each pin individually.

I am pretty sure I was not scrubbing or jiggling the pins at all. It's just that I have picked this lock so many times, I have learned exactly how to pick each pin, and quickly for that matter. I learned this by playing with each individual pin, many hundreds of times, learning exactly how each pin sets properly.
Then again... I could be doing something wrong, I do not claim to be an expert in any way. After all, I have just started teaching myself this art just a few short weeks ago.

Yep, the design is very similar, from what I have observed. However, I'm not exactly sure about the internal structure of the Masterlock No. 40, as I have never picked that particular lock.
And thanks! It's a lot of fun for me.

It's just really, reeeally fast and doesn't seem quite as precise as, say, zeke79's video of picking a Brinks shrouded lock.

Ether, nice music did you have playingin the
background Good job on the pick. I have
the original Abus Diskus, it has 6-pins, with some
mushrooms thrown in, took me a couple months
to pick it How many pins does yours have?
