Another favorite of mine is the scene in Warning Sign (the biohazard movie) where the Sheriff encounters a locked door. His friend begins to examine the lock, at which time the Sheriff says: "Hey, let me show you how the pros do it." At which time he takes off his shirt, balls it around his hand and busts out one of the windows.

The original "Die Hard" has a scene when the four SWAT team members are "assaulting" the door. The guy attempts to pick the lock on the front doors (with what does look like a pick/tension wrench combo I will say) which are made of almost complete glass. When he can't pick the lock, they break out the power tools to DE the lock open. WTF? Its at that point the bad guys just get bored with their bafoonery and shoot them through the glass door.

Just watched this one again, Die Hard 3 has a scene near the end where Samuel L. Jackson picks a pair of hand cuffs with a paperclip or something that looks like one anyway. Of course to make it more interesting the second pair of cuffs is blown off.

When will the movies start using the really cool picks that they could buy here, from kaotick or ratyoke or some of our other pickmakers. That would be really cool. I think we'd all see it if they did that.

Oh, and I think you can see a pick gun on the equipment table at the beginning of Escape from LA.... watching too many movies lately.

In foolproof the try to pick a lock to a deadbolt, with the comment "you normally pick this in 30sec, but its going on 1 minute 40". Used a tension tool and a pick. Nice move.

In a movie whose name I dont remember, a guy got out of prison and went to visit his ex-girlfriend, breaking into her house. When she was surprised to find him in there, he showed her a commercial hook pick and tension wrench, and told her he had learnt a few tricks in prison. Of course my 'favourites' are when the star of the show takes something out of his pocket, which we never see, calmly opens the lock and places it back in his pocket. No wonder people believe in the myth of the Universal Master Key! Makes you want to tear your hair out

One for UK pickers; there's a car advert on TV at the moment (don't know which make, they all look the same to me) with some picking in - pick gun & tension wrench both in the lock at the same time which for the 1/8 of a second or so it's on screen, could be realistic
[One day, I'm going to apply for the Advanced section, just to see if I get accepted....]

I'd love to see someone whip out a Bogota rake in a flick. They would photograph nicely. Raimundo, how are your acting skills?

Hour, hour and a half into Watchmen had proper picking and a glimpse of Rorschach's pick set, which by the way is an incredible movie and will be seeing it again as soon as i get a chance to outside the theaters.

Ok, so you don't get to see any picking but in Burn after reading one of the guys mentions that his bike wont be safe locked up which he leaves at the park because it is locked with a Kryptonite lock and they can be opened with a Bic pen

I just recieved a bogota pair made by ratyoke, with his beautiful long handles, wooden ones this time. These things should be in movies. They really are beautiful.
Picks in movies are either stock picks you could order from a magazine article, or occasionally theres some piece of over hyped bs like val kilmer uses in "the saint". That thing was so ridiculous.
Any movie that uses picks from ratyoke, kaotik, or tooly would really have the panache.
My ratyoke picks are the best, with wooden handles for the warm feel which is really apprectiated in Minnesota today. (below 0 again today.

I remember Barry "The Key" from TOOOL mentioning something funny about lockpicking in movies.
He said: You know how people walk up to a door, stick something in it, wiggle a bit and it pops open? That's called a key.
