Bumping

Postby slentz16 » 24 May 2006 5:19

Hey all. I am a locksmith with access to key blanks and a key machine.

I have tried both SC1 and KW1 keyways, cut to the deepest depth +.010, and have had no luck yet. I am a fairly skilled picker, but a working bump key would be nice. I get ALOT of lockouts on Friday afternoons in the summertime, I live at a beach community, and it would be nice to bump a lock open in seconds.

Plus, it would impress the women.... :)

Any tips?

hey guyz, i m bit confused about this Bumping terminology.

i have stuided some guides, watched videos like, whatthebump.wmv and so on...

the problem is , some told , make bump key dont file shoulder and tip, and just insert it and take out a little bit, give torque, hit it... OPEN

but some says, make key, file soulder & tip, hit it while tension, Open up .

which way is Correct ??

one more question, shuld i make a bump key from Blank key, or some spare key?

one more question, in bump keys, do the Valleys or depths counts, or there are peaks which also do some job?

I hope u got my crappy English :P
