Enough is enough with the flaming and arguing. No need to be like a pack of dogs. If it keeps up, I'll lock the thread.

Well, on a personal level, I too think it's just shy of *crazy* to be picking locks on a plane regardless of credentials. None the less, the story does show what a climate of paranoia we live in today. Rightly or wrongly, people are just plane edgy, and it's something we all need to be aware of.
Clearly, in this case the flight attendant acted rashly and was unwilling to listen to reason. I have to assume that there would have been a more appropriate way of handling the situation. But whatever the case, it's an interesting story.
To the OP: Sorry you got beat on a bit here. Everyone's got an opinion. Mine is that you probably could have stood to have a bit more discretion with your picks. I mean, really... if nail files get 'em up in arms, you HAVE to imagine picks aren't the wisest choice for carry-on. But to each his own. Glad it worked out.

I dont want to tell anyone they cannot express an opinion on this site. It just needs to be worded correctly to avoid getting personal with the issue and we do not need everyone ganging up on the "new people" .

I loved the story...True or False
I wasn't there so I can’t say I believe it or not; because, I have no way of knowing. I will say this United would try to keep this as private as possible so that could be why it might not make the news. I do have to say why this may have happened it is a little unbelievable. I also feel it was too well thought out to be a bunch of BS. So true or false BROVO BROVO I Loved the story it had me laughing.
I do agree with the others I don't think I would take the picks on board a public plane. Use your time on the plane to read updated information. If you do take your picks on the flight then please let everyone know that works their including the attendant’s.
I really hope this isn't true because that will just put lock picks on the list of band items. This would be bad because, I am sure allot of the locksmiths carry their picks on carry on just incase the bags get lost.
As far as downgrading you I am not going to because true or false I loved the story. I welcome you to the forum from one newbie to the next.

Cool story. Shame it cost you the wasted time.
So are there any technical reasons why this story is unbelievable?

I googled the crap out of the Chicago area media and found no mention. When a drunk guy raises his voice and they have to land a plane at Bradley International Airport here in Hartford, FOX61 has a 3 hour special on it. I dont doubt his story, but some might find the lack of media coverage a bit odd. who knows.. some stuff gets buried on page 6 very quickly

What kind of Medeco? Zeke79 has a video of himself single-pin picking a Biaxial several times in about 6 minutes. I imagine it would be even easier to rake with the right tool, but as I still have trouble consistently picking the one pin I have in my Medeco payphone lock at the moment, I'm certainly no expert.
