If you have the key for the lock and the lock has pins, then you can make a bump key for it. File all of the trenches down to the "9" position.

Dude, to be truthful if you had 20 of those keys I doubt you could make a working bump key. I just don't think you could do it from reading your posts. Plus it is a lot harder to bump a 1105 because it has spools and serrated pins. Just give up, get skilled in basic lockpicking then go back to learning how to pick the 1105 or getting a code cut bump key when you have the skills.

Even if you did have spare keys to your house, DO NOT attempt to bump (or pick for that matter) a lock that is in use. You can easily cause damage, especially if inexperienced. This is why we use practice locks. One example - explaining why the front door lock is broken to your parents/landlord is a situation best avoided. Even worse, you might damage the lock in a way that is not immediately obvious, and end up locked behind a door in an emergency (eg fire).

I doubt you will get a lot more help in this thread, but if you do a little searching, here or elsewhere on the net, you should be able to figure out how a bump key for any standard pin tumbler lock is made and how it works. People will not spoonfeed here, especially when it comes to bum(p)ing.

Hope you decide to stick around and learn to pick as a hobby, if you can't buy picks, there is plenty of information here that will teach you how to make them. If you do stick around - read the stickies and the rules, because posts about picking locks that aren't yours, or locks that are in use, will not go down well here.

The 9 position refers to the deepest cut for most locks. American only uses 8 depths according to my books. If you file all the cuts on your key until you get a micrometer reading of .175 you will have your bumpkey.

I bet he doesn't have a micrometer being a student. Just a guess.

Also, be carefull with the angles so you don't get your homemade bump key stuck in the lock.

I understand he probably does not have a micrometer. I gave him the information he needed. What he chooses to do with it is up to him. My bet is if he wants to make an accurate key he will find a micrometer.

That would be cool if you could eyeball a key by looking at a picture of the original and get the depths right. 8) I would say find the key with the deepest cut the file all to match the deepest cut.
