Then wait for The Open Source Lock... :D

The main advantage of this product is that it allows you to monitor who and at what time the door was opened or was attempted to be opened, ( thieving employies coming back in the night ) you canalso change/add/cancel access times once the toe-rags have been caught.

but doesnt the abloy protec cliq give you the same features? personally i'd rather go with something from abloy...

If an adit trail is required...there are cheaper alternatives. Patlite Japan have recently released a stills camera recording system very inexpensive that is wireless and can be fitted above an entry. It takes a time stamped picture on activation which is sent to a wireless receiver and recorded either on video or computer.

Dont get me wrong....I like the idea of combining mechanical with electronics, but the quality of electronics today (whilst improving), is no where near where it needs to be to work suitably combined with mechanical key systems that are known to be longer lasting and requires less maintenance.

The Videx padlocks are a brilliant idea (in my opinion) although a little expensive.

Abloy Protec is a wonderful system, but combining it with Cliq for audit trail is overkill i think. It prices the option out of the market I think.
Cliq is a novel concept but incorporating the feature into a extra solenoid mechanism should be the main focus and not audit trails (IMHO)
