Even if you did damage the lock, you still helped her out financially
That is presuming you damage and it opens, if you break a pick or similar you may end up needing a locksmith to drill it anyway. That said i think it was a good thing to do as you help someone out (well in :) ) for nothing. I unfortunately would lprobably not have taken the chance to. The satisfaction and good deed not worth the chance of "! I live next to a burglar" responces. A different thing for trusted friends of course.

about 20-25 years ago, my neighbor lady asked me to
break into her house for her.
Im not sure exactly why she asked me... proximity I guess.
People already thought I was a bit strange.

I was inside in less than 20 seconds helping her put groceries away.
I asked her NOT TO tell anyone that I did it, not wanting to give myself
anything ELSE to be blamed for. She agreed on ONE condition:

She made me promise not to tell anyone HOW EASY it was
to get into her house. hahahhaa.

well... took me this much time to even mention it.
She moved, I've moved, and I never mentioned a name.

But yeah, my parents taught me at a VERY early age,
Dont give people cause to blame you for anything.
