I'm all about making picks now, it's like a new hobbie! My only problem is I tend break them, it could be just frustration and trying to hard to pick the lock or not the right material, it's probably both!

I was merely supporting your concept of pick and tension tool in one. My tool was one of my first picks. I was able to jiggle open a lot of Chinese laminated, "Master Lock" spin offs with it. Is it the tool of choice- heck no! Most beginner pickers tend to over think things. Knowing the tolerance of the locks you're attempting to pick will help build your confidence. Locks with a lot of space between pin and pin chamber will pick easily usually by scrubbing the pick across the pins with light tension. Start with the cheap locks first to build your confidence. Make some picks from hacksaw blade material. It's a start.
