Did you ever think about the assembly of your lock? Especially the locking mechanism for the trap pins looks _really_ evil IMHO.

Assembling this lock would be considered cruel and unusual punishment.

Here are all of the drawings together.

I was also thinking that the CLIQ technology can be integrated into this lock. The only problem with the CLIQ techonology is that it can't stand up to harsh environments.

I'll e-mail ASSA ABLOY or Mul-t-lock USA just for fun 8)

Do you think this lock would receive a UL437 rating? There is a thread somwhere in the first forum about what the requirements are.

the requirments have very little to do with picking, it's more of an indurance type test. how much abuse can the lock take and still be in a working/locked state?

I think we should revisit the concept, mentioned here, that a lock is "unpickable" when it is no longer the easiest way to breach security.

I will amend the original, to get this:

"A lock will be considered 'unpickable' when defeating the lock is no longer PERCEIVED to be the easiest or best way to circumvent security."

Perception is important. The fact is, if common people did not PERCEIVE the common door lock to be the "easiest" way to breach security, a lot more burglaries would probably happen. In reality, for most people and most homes built in the last 35 years or so, it is easier to pull off a piece of external siding with a crowbar, and walk through the resulting hole in the wall, than it is to pick the lock on the front door.

It is only a common -- but false -- perception that prevents most thieves from doing that.
