that is a very beautiful pick, looks like it took some time, right now (by right now i mean like a month or so ago, since i pretty much stopped picking.) i found that, especially for those spooled american beasts, a hair pin works nice because you can bend it to the right specs, get plenty of room, and apply ultra light pressure for that last pin. only down side is you need a little tougher one to turn the unlocking bolt.

I personally use bandsaw blades as I have a nearly unlimited supply of them from work. Once they are broken or worn they go straight to the garbage bin.

Cool. Thanks. I like to have a little bit of heft to my picks. But no too much, that's why I drilled the holes.
There's no replacement for displacement.

I was never able to make tension wrenches out of hacksaw blades they were always very fragile and broke all the time so I found out this nails that were already bend 90º. They are strong and don't break easily the only problem is that one have to practice to know the amount of force to be used in some locks.

PS: I just had to grind them a bit. I can choose the thickness to give them. Very cheap

For tension wrenches I like the stainless steel windshield wiper inserts. I think it would take alot to break these. The only problem I have is that sometimes they just arnt wide enuf for the keyway.

I think it's the same way we do with an hacksaw blade. We heat it with a torch in the place it's going to be bended (using pliers), we bend it (when it turns red) and dunk it in a bottle of water. The some process if you want 90º turns.

Best. Post. Ever.

Sorry Char, but that gave me a really good laugh!

Inside the wiper blade, there is a long piece of flat metal that you can cut and bend in order to make tensioners. I'll try to find a better picture.
