i have a brinks safe (i believe its a 5067D) in my house that i know the first number and the last number, but the second number remains unknown to my own knowledge... i can pick the lock though... a lot of times it is set on the number and i can just pick the lock to open it... now when i open it, it seems there would be 4 different things that spin around instead of 3, is this because the second number goes around twice? i've had lots of experience with picking locks and breaking combos... but for some reason this one confuses me... can you help me out? (so far everything on here about breaking safes has been very unusefull...) hopefully someone out there like Chubby can help me...

I must ask you, first are you sure its not a 4 digit brinks safe. I am not too familiar with all of Brinks models, but the two I have seen in person were 4 digit combos. I remember them being easy enough that I manipulated 3 of the numbers in 3 minutes before a not so helpful salesman asked if I needed help.
Well, back to the topic at hand. If the safe is in your house, why dont you know all the numbers to the combo? Seems to me that you are attempting to get into something you shouldn't.

Hold on Chucklz: This is the reason why locksmiths exsist. Lots of people forget the combination to their safes. There are a variety of reasons why they forget; not much use, bad memory, smoking too much pot....
He comes off just like any of us do. Stuck with a problem, trying to figure out something in an unfamiliar field.

Very noble read, David. I don't buy it.
The middle number is unknown to him?
He's managed to pick it on more than one occasion because the numbers were left there?
More than one occasion? That means it was relocked in between?

And frankly, if it is a 3 digit lock, with say a 1 digit dialing tolerance... and you know the first and last digits..... I dont care how drunk/stoned/tweaked you are, you should know what to do.

I agree with your idea, David, but in this case i think there's a slight exception:
CitySpider had some good points... Chance is chance when it happens once. More than that... kinda improbable.
And, if he had got the safe open, you can easily find out the middle number, and wouldn'tve had to crack it again, right?
