Wow, three pages, the simple answer is yes. the more complex answer is " Entropy, the second law of thermodynamics, all organized systems tend toward chaos. Not only do picks break, but eventually they will all break."

You can get into the habit of using the pick to turn the plug to open the mechanism, or resetting the tumblers to start over, which can bend the pick shaft a bit. As can using the bottom of a pick to turn a mortise screw or the tip of a hook to pull circlips. I really like the feel and action of the small, thin Klom Navigator hook and over-use it on larger pins than should be and the rascal is taking a decided twist.

Don't abuse them if you don't want to see them busted up. Assmuing you're buying/making good quality in the first place, like Raimundos' Bogotas. It's pretty predictable if/when your tools will get scrogged. Me, I don't mind scars, they give you more character. Or at least provide a discussion point . . .
