Yes, the news is that I am still awaiting results for the final testing of the new material being used for the handle. This is the last phase of development and the KEbump will hopefully go into full production soon.

As soon as the design is sent to production, I will set up a pre-order page. Until then, I will not be accepting any money or any pre-orders. Sorry for the wait guys, I want to make sure that it's the best I can make it.

Have you received the material sample I sent yet?

As a semi-pro Ebay seller, I've mentioned this to a number of people, and they're always suprised because they think of Fedex as being the most expensive carrier between USPS, UPS, and them because of their expensive overnight and same-day services, but they're not when it comes to ground service--Fedex Ground is many times the cheapest option between UPS Ground and USPS Priority, and they're almost always faster and more reliable (MUCH more reliable than the postal service, IMO). This is not always the case, especially when it comes to really light-weight items, usually under 1 lb, which is where Priority Mail shines.

I have never heard anything bad about FedEx, whereas horror stories about UPS (on various fronts) abound, and USPS is... well, you know.

I have had excellent luck with USPS priority mail and first class mail. I have sent several $1500+ items with no problems whatsoever. UPS on the other hand is ridiculous and I avoid them if at all possible. FedEx is out of the question here as there are no local drop points for their service. If there were then I would use it for items that are too heavy to ship USPS reasonably.

Fido: Try making a thread or posting in a bump key thread, as this thread is specific to KeBump tool....

I just wanted to second Fedex(and kinko's Fedex store if you have one).

They are my absolute favorite and amazing for shipping.... going there is the easiest and painless process ever at amazing prices...

I remember first time I went I had a large package that wasn't even sealed or had address or anything, and then in like 2 minutes it was taped up, the address filled out and on it(and I didnt have to fill out any paperwork), and it was sent and I had a tracking number and I was out the door... amazingly simple and great... lol you can tell how much I love fedex :)

I have one of the prototypes of the KEBump and posted my findings of it in an excell spreadsheet. It's not as much data as I would have liked to compiled, but it does give some reference to the effectiveness of the KEBump. I am positive that the production model will be better with the addition of the looped handle and chemically bonded head.

There currently aren't any owners for the final production model of the KEbump...not even me!

Estimated lead time is still about 3 weeks out according to the factory. I'm hoping they're "underpomising and overdelivering" and have it out in two weeks, but only time will tell.

To be honest, I'm not quite certain. That is something that Barrett and I are still working on. If I had to take a guess, I don't think $30USD would be too far out of range but please remember that this retail price is VERY tentative and is by no means set in stone, or even Jello. ;-) If that seems high to you, remember that this price incorporates all the different levels that the product must go through.

Here are the three possiblities for the supply chain:

Manufacturing -> Source (Me) -> Brockhage -> Dealer -> End User (Retail Price is Here)

Manufacturing -> Source (Me) -> Brockhage -> End User (Retail Price is Here)

Manufacturing -> Source (Me) -> End User (Retail Price is Here)

So you see, the price has to be at a level that is profitible for everyone involved, regardless of what chain the product goes through.

Also note that this supply chain model is true for ALL locksmithing tools, not just the KEbump.

Dont you think a simple wooden mallet work just as well? Perhaps even better. I hear of kabumps breaking because the handles are weak.
Just thought I would give my two cents.
