no... I've found the Tomohawk design far better than anything else.

Wooden mallets are crap, I actualy tried it for a month and concluded this lol.

Use the handle end, not the mallet end if you do use a mallet.. you'll use too much force otherwise.

Mine I made was done using a piece of UPVC curtain track with a block of wood.. never btroken yet - however I can't vouch for Omikron's KEbump.

Just thought I would give my two cents.

That's interesting that you would hear that, since they're not even out of production yet. :?

Anything will break if you put enough force on it.

update please

Postby Sesame » 15 Sep 2006 21:19

So, how about an update. Are keBumps commercially available? Is there a LP 101 discount?
Nothing is so embarrassing as watching someone do something that you said couldn't be done.

Actually the KeBump Mark II's are out which are very awesome.

Feels much better made and is extremely high quality in my opinion.

There was a discount on the pre-sale but I don't think there currently is since he is retailing it.

Compared to a $10 hammer from sears or something put together by hand, I definitely think it is more than worth the cost.

How would these compare to the three current american variations of the tomyhawk already available?

Peterson Version

Southern Specialties Version

lockpicks.com Version

I have these three and the tomy hawk and to be perfectly honest, all compare with a screwdriver handle :)

Is that lockpicks.com version the same as the black Peterson? It appears to be...

Yes, it's the black (BH). I have the BH and the blue (BL?)

Southern Specialties is really cheaply made, light plastic handle, teflon? head, very flexible. Peterson is molded plastic with slots to add weights. More like a screw driver handle and the same flex as the tomy hawk.

I read on Toool that some one is designing a new BK hammer made of the same material and density of a shoe heal.

I don't know, I just don't see how important the hammer is suppose to be if a simple screw driver handle works about the same. Because I have about the same success/failure rates with these BK hammers as I do with a screw driver. No noticeable difference here any ways.

I read about the aerodynamics behind the designs of all these including the orig tomyhawk and it's almost laughable. It's just a bunch of plastic for heavens sake. It's not a golf club, it's a hammer. Guess it just looks more professional. :)

Ace hardware

Postby raimundo » 12 Mar 2007 9:15

Ace hardware has a cheap table where they throw a lot of new tools made by the cheap processes, a lot of orange plastic, I was looking through this table, and came on a small 'emergency hammer' a piece of orange plastic with two pointy hammerheads on one end, made for breaking the glass on your car as it sinks below the ditchwater. I have seen this tool made bigger, but this one was the perfect size for a bump hammer, unfortunately, when I made the decision to buy one about a month later, it was no longer in the bin. but it would have made a nice bumphammer if I had got it on time.
