Good Newbie Lock Line up To develope on.

I need to find a new lock, but to make the thread useful i will say what i started with so other newbies can look on what to work up with.

1. Sentry fire box- three wafer lock

2. Tool box lock- five wafer lock
(Every quickset in my house)
3. Cheapo brass 5 pin lock
4. 3 diffrent master number 3's
5. Sentry High security Discus with 1 spool pin
6. Sentry Maximun security padlock. 3 spool pins.

This to me is a good line up for a newbie, working to master the lock before moving on to the next.

So now a question for those many who are far above my skills. What padlock or lock in that case do you suggest? I also forgot to right i got a quickset and changes the pins around and put in two mushroom pins in 2 and 3. Any good ideas??

Also if you have any questions about any of the locks mentioned, such as picking techniuqes or advice or prices i will do my best to answere if not, the pros in here can.

Repin the Kwikset regardless of MACS - usualy if you put a 9,1,9,1,9 pin combo in you would not be able to insert the key. Since you don't need to use a key put the biggest pins you have next to the smallest pins. You will find that if the pick shaft touches the set pins it will unset them, this means you'll have to do some contortion picking to avoid it.

Hmm... I guess you could try putting more spool pins in, but once you get the right tension they stop being a great difficulty...

Schlage are meant to be better than Kwikset - the warding I'm led to believe is more challenging.

I could suggest several locks were you in the UK, but I'll see what the USA members ccome up with. :)

I work at a shipping company, and one of the vans was locked with a combo lock, they bolt cut the thing before I had my fair chance with it, besides it was 5 degrees, so I couldnt' work my hands too well. Anyway, I got the lock, it's cut but oh well, good practice lock now!
someone love me!
