Seems almost just as easy to pick a handcuff rather than shim it.
Post up what you figure out, I could be wrong.
someone love me!

The more tricks you know, the better chance you have of one of them working.

yo... i used to do escapology :D so i might know your problem...
if its the swing through style cuff (normal police stlye) then read on...if not, your wasting your time :P

handcuffs have a shim proof mechanism which is easy to bypass with this method...

anyway... you basically need some shim steel (or use a can of pop - use the shim making guide...)

put the cuff on one arm only (just incase this fails!) this is best done on your writing arm... now move your wrist so that the keyhole is facing you... call this the front of the cuff, and look at the left side. this is where the other half of the cuff goes in... as you can see, the rachets go in as far as you can see into the lock.
You want to slide the shim in flat, and against the body of the cuff - not the swing through part... move it slowly, and wrigle if it gets stuck... if the shim bends, its useless... when your reach the join where the rachet meets the locking mechanism (the part you are bypassing) you want to ralax, and take your time with the next step.

you should be able to tell when you reach this point - the shim has definately hit something. if you followed the right side of the gap, it will be the first bump you encountered. now, you need to carefully lift up into the racheted side... you should hopefully be blocking off the rachet next to the locking mechanism, so that if you push the bracket in, it opens the cuff... slowly and carefully push the shim and bracket in together as if you were tightening the cuff. The locking mechanism should be blocked, and the thing will swing open (not literally...needs some force, but it will open...hold the shim in position when you open!)

shimming will not work on cuffs when double locked... if you want more help, email me :D magic_man@email2me.net (type the subject of the mail in caps please... i need to see it through all the junk mail lol)
