Abus Locks no.55

Postby Gabskij » 18 May 2006 10:10

Hi!
I've been here for a few days now and got my set a few days ago.
I'm a bit confused about a few locks I have; The 55/40 and 55/50. I have a tendency to get the bottom pins stuck When trying to pick them I managed to get the 55/40 opened once but since then it's been a bit unresponsive. I don't know the lingo but instead of setting the pins some of them get caught.
It does turn a bit but when I get to the last pin it isn't binding but can't be pushed up either.

What can cause this? Am I raising them to high or is there some anti-pick stuff I should know about like mushroom or spools?

Thanks.

Hmm help me out here guys do they have sererrated bottom pins? if so thats watchs catching if not then its not the binding pin and your pushing it up to hard and it gets jammed, vary your tension from light to medium to hard... not hard hard just pretty steady see how they bind with diffrent approaches to tension. I knwo the rule is light tension, but i have found heavy tension then reducing at certain point will open a lock pretty darn good.

But i think they have spools. .but i am not positive so i will not say serrated for sure, Help me out fella's i am in the dark about what securty pins they are( trys to find light bulb and falls).

Thanks for the attempt to help. I'm trying all kind of tensions I can. =)
It would be most helpfull to know what kind of pins are in it though I get a different feel for one of the pins. Can't really say what it is though since I don't have any experience. =)

the abus should have spool/mushroom pin and then you said the plug turned a bit and the pins got stuck that's that spools do. when this happens back off the tension a bit and push a bit harder on the pin that's binding.
you should feel the tension wench move, you might have to do this a few times because there should be a few spools in there(may be only one)
