10 pin tubular lockpick

Postby LockNewbie21 » 19 May 2006 14:45

I dont get it? 400$ american for 3 or 2 extra pins? I mean i don't want it, but first they said it was a top security deal only to locksmiths, now its open to the public. I mean i have never even seen one, has any one actually bought this and actually found an application to use it wheather it be hobby or locksmith? Anyway doesnt a peterson have an attachment for there pick for a ten pin? if so you could just buy that and have a pick for every one rather than buying this one. Just a thought for discussion.

10 pin "ace"

Postby keysman » 19 May 2006 15:13

The ten pin ace has been around for a while , it hasn't seemed to catch on. I have only seen one in use and that was a low security area.

Custom Security Products made a 10 pin 'attachment" for their picks. I don't have any idea how well it worked, although their other products worked well enough.

Anybody see 10 pin ace in use anywhere?

Hmm thats true, i mean there are 10 pins out there, but is the 440$ worth it? I would be more compelled to single pin pick. !0 pins seems like it would occupy me for atleast a wek or two maybe more :D

Are you talking about the Peterson Pro-1 for $440? That pick is multifunctional; working on 7, 8, 10, small bore, and octagonal tubular locks.

I have seen this lock on a couple of bill changing machines.

As`to Custom Security Products the pick you speak of would be the Pickmaster and having never used the 10 pin but having owned the pickmaster and used it on almost everything else all I can say is it is one great tool if you can get a hold of one still.

Custom Security Products also made a 9-pin National pick that was superb.

They also Made a Greenwald pick better known as the Mighty Mini another fine tool.

What happened to them??? To my knowledge all these were created by one artisan Don something?? When Custom Security Products developed an electric pick for Medeco etc the pick did not work and Don lost his shirt. I haven't seen them since.

Don't confuse Custom Security Products out of Nevada with the Old group (don) out of Napa Valley they are not the same group. Asked a few years bqack about whether I could get a 9-pin national pick off of the Nevada group and they had no idea what I was talking about I had gotten 4 of these picks off the Napa group. So they are not the same ppl.

Custom Security Products

Yes they made a great tubular pick.
They do have a small learning curve with them but, ultimately they do work.

What ever happened to them ???? You are correct the current “Customs Security Products out of Las Vegas is NOT the same company , I believe they sell the “ Fibre Pick “ which is questionable at best.

When they were selling the tubular pick it was around $300 for the ‘basic “ model + a whole list of accessories available.. $5-600 for the complete set sounds about right.

I have used the HPC and another Cheepo pick…… never used a Peterson so I can’t say ,but the CSP pick is by far the best I have ever used

Interesting.. he went out on a limb making an electric pick for the medeco, The mini pick you talk of i have said its a pain having to adjust it back with allen wrenchs, but other than that heard nothing but good. Hopefully when i get a lockie job i will get a chance to put my dust collecting SO tubular pick to use. I ws about to sell it before i signed up for foley course, i will do some research ont hose companies. Basically i just thought i would buy the peterson for 3 hundred then the attachments, i thought price wise it didn;t wame sence to spend 400$ on just one 10 pin pick, becuase a locksmith will more likely encounter sevral diffrent types making the peterson w/ attachments more benificial. Either way the 10 pin looks pretty neet though, if i had a bunch of money to spare theres a few tools i would'nt mind getting, but you know i am poor so i work everyday :D i'm sure everybody else is in my boat to. :)
